What is the Shakuhachi? Origin? Craft? How is it played? Is it a musical instrument or a tool for meditation? Who is able to learn the Shakuhachi? What are the benefits? Where to find one and how to get started? And what is the curriculum?
If you've heard the sound of a beautiful wind instrument in a movie related to Japan, you've most likely heard the Shakuhachi. It is Japan's traditional and iconic bamboo flute that traces it's development to the Samurai who opted to use the Shakuhachi for mind and body alignment through the breath required to make the Shakuhachi sound and enjoy its meditative/healing melodies. I invite you to attend this introductory seminar on the Shakuhachi where I will answer all of the above questions and many more. This seminar is for anyone who has heard and felt a deep connection when encountering the sound of the Shakuhachi and has the desire to engage on an interactive level in learning to play it. For those who have not heard it and have an appreciation for Japanese culture, this is wonderful exploratory and very informative seminar to attend and learn more about the culture of perseverance, humility, and self mastery through the Shakuhachi.
