After graduating from the University of Southampton, James has had a busy career as a professional musician and educator. Teaching in some of the best schools and colleges in the country including Wells Cathedral School, Wellington College and Canford School. As well as an extensive teaching portfolio, James is also a busy freelance musician with a wealth of experience playing in the West End, National and International Tours. Some Credits include playing on Heathers: The Musical (West End), Rocky Horror Show (West End/International Tour), Everybody’s Talking About Jamie (UK Tour), Grease (UK Tour) Saturday Night Fever (Scandinavia) and The Osmonds: A New Musical (UK Tour). As well as his freelance career, he has released his own music with his progressive rock project; Proletarian with all releases being on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming platforms. James offers lessons in electric, acoustic, bass and Ukulele as well as Theory. He holds grade 8 Theory with ABRSM, so he can teach to the highest level with this, and also put it into practice for contemporary musicians as well as classical. If you are looking to get your Grade 5 theory for music college but don't want to go through classical teachers, James can apply the ABRSM curriculum to be accessible for students of the pop and rock world. He is a confident sight reader and if you wish to get into theatre, or reading on any of the instruments he will find a way to make it easy for you to progress and understand the fundementals of reading music on contemporary instruments.
